Lobositz

Thu Mar 11, 2010 12:01 am

Well, I tried. Twice, I sent Browne to Lobositz in the first turn of the 1756 scenario, just to see if the game would allow this first battle of the 7YW to be re-enacted. Both times Browne never made it, was intercepted by Fritz and friends in the region east of Lobositz and crushed. Losses on the order of 90% of initial strength, both times. Doesn't detract from the game, of course - but I wondered if it would let me carry out the historical opening move. Answer: a resounding NO!! :D

I've had a battle in Lobositz at least once. More common is in the next area to the north, Dippoldiswalde. Fighting in Lobositz means that the Prussians are getting greedy and moving down out of the mountains towards Prag.

If the Prussians can get a solid siege of Prague going before winter shuts down (need to build a depot next door and gain control of all surrounding areas) they should be able to take it before spring and really screw up the Austrian war effort.

Depends on how you define victory.

I tried to attack austrians in lobositz area but they didnt want to play with me. So i marched towards prague. Meanwhile Browne did flanking move to chemnitz (spelling). After taking that brown moved towards dresden where i had 12k men waiting, Browne had maybe twice that much. But is the first winter days came, my main force took prague and Browne was stuck in the mountains next to dresden. He tried to attack it next turn but that failed because browne wasnt able to bring much men into the battle. My only failure was that i didnt try to push his troops while they were low on supply but let them walk home thru the winter mountains to the eger (?) Dont know how much damage they did get while they spent 3 turns there, i just hope that they had enough snowshoes :neener:
