Newbie Questions.......Blockades and Trenches

Tue Dec 29, 2009 10:51 pm

Have studied the manual, wiki and faq's but need clarification for the following please!

* What is the ideal number of ships to implement a successful brown or blue water blockade per port?

* How do I build trenches? I see the special rule for fortifications but not for Trenches?

Thanks

Hi!

The tooltip over a sea region will tell you the combat ships elements you need to blockade it or how many you are still missing if you have some ships there already.
To blockade a port you will need to cover each of its exits (the tooltip over the port icon on the city will tell you to which sea regions it exit. Most only have one, but some has 2 exits).
Usually its 8 elements per sea region but you it will add 4 more if the port has a fort or 4 less if you have a controlled fort on the sea region.

All that is for brown water blockade. Blue water blockade is obtained in % by putting ships on the naval blockade boxes (its best to cover both more or less equally).
The % you see under the naval box is your blue water blockade percentage.
The CSA will loss half that percentage in production of every resource in EVERY one of his regions every turn (for example a 40% blockade will reduce CSA production of supply, war supply, ammo, money... in 20%).

Trenches are built automatically by any stack every turn they spent on a region. You don't need to do anything
If you move them they will loss the trenches, but you can left a unit there manning the trenches and latter reoccupy the trenches with another force by dragging it into the entrenched force (a slightly game trick ;) )
Remember to drag the unentrenched stack over the entrenched one, and not the other way around! :D
Cheers
