CSA Chassuers Afrique event trigger error?

Thu Nov 12, 2009 7:20 am

The CSA Chassuers Afrique event, in the CSA Events file, v1.15, reads as follows:

SelectFaction = $CSA
SelectRegion = $Philadelphia, PA
StartEvent = evt_nam_CSA_ChasseursAfrique1862|1|2|evt_txt_USA_ChasseursAfrique1862|Event-img_USA_ChasseursAfrique1862|$Philadelphia, PA|13

Conditions
MinDate = 1862/09/27
EvalEvent = evt_nam_CSA_ChasseursAfrique1862;=;1

Actions
DescEvent = evt_desc_CSA_ChasseursAfrique1862

SelectRegion = $Richmond, VA
ChangeFacMorale = 5

EndEvent

Shouldn't the EvalEvent be evt_nam_USA_ChasseursAfrique1862, instead of CSA? The USA event is in the USA Events file, and triggers if New Orleans is US owned with no adjacent Confederate units between 27 Sep '62 and 1 Jan '63. It gives the USA a regiment and 100 conscript points.

As written, it doesn't look like the CSA event will ever trigger.

CSA event................

quickly looking at it I figure it should be EvalEvent evt_nam_USA_ChasseursAfrique1862|=|1

It looks like the event will add the chasseurs if New Orleans held by the Union but then adds them in philly. I don't agree with the addition of 100 conscripts however.
Then it looks like if the event fires the Confederates gain 5 morale? (or would)
I'd have to check this but I believe this is a useless script.
I've quickly looked at this but this is what I get from it.

Actually I think the events should be altered or scraped altogether. It serves no purpose. Just my thoughts ...........

Shouldn't the second SelectRegion be Iberville, LA also so the unit arrives in New Orleans?

September 27, 1862 The first all-black regiment in United States history is formed in Union-controlled New Orleans from "free Negroes." While their technical name is the First Regiment Louisiana Native Guard they call themselves "Chasseurs d'Afrique". The name translates to "Hunters of Africa."

Historically, yes.

In game terms, the unit will arrive there if no enemy is in the region or adjacent.

If Iberville fails to meet this requirement, the "CondSkip" selection will occur, somewhere 'safe' in Louisiana. And last, in Philadelphia if all else fails.

AFAIK, this is done to prevent 'instant anhilitation' by enemy forces present in New Orleans. :blink:
