Pocus, when can we expect the legacy patch?

Thu Oct 15, 2009 1:55 pm

I have not played in sometime and saw there is to be a final patch, when? I would rather use the final improved patch than trying to figure out all the fixes and other patches that have been added over the past year.

Thanks

Pocus,

Will this Legacy Patch also included all of the Quickfixes up to and include QuickFix6 ?

No QF6, if I understand correctly.

No, er, yes, er, QF6 ... eh ... this is getting confusing ;)

In QF6 Gray fixed the bombardment button and a couple of issues with a couple of regions, plus rolled back the command cost of all the units to that what it was at in the 1.13b patch. After that in 1.14 I believe, the command cost went to one-regiment - one-command_cost for individual brigades. There are some brigades with 5 and 6 regiments, which meant, that they had a higher command cost than an entire division with 17 regiments. This is why the return to the previous command costs.

All the other nifty changes Gray made up to and through QF5 didn't make it to AGEod on time to be included in this next (last?) patch. They may be offered later as a mod, but will not be official.

That sum it up, what is important is a last executable code and stable historical data (QF5 I believe). Then if things are not all of your liking, this can be solved with unofficial mod, Gray said he would be creating some.

Eek

No

There are two paths you can go by, but in the long run ... (sounds like Led Zeppelin ;) )

Totally official:
- original setup.exe +
- patch 1.14 +
- patch 1.14c +
- QuickFix6 (with or without - but will become officially part of the next patch)

Oooor

Not official
- original setup.exe +
- patch 1.14 +
- patch 1.14c +
- QuickFix5

QuickFix6 is described above. QF5 I can't find a definitive description, but I know a few of the details, includes:
- early war cavalry cannot capture cities, they can capture harbors and indian villages, they can also destroy depots and rail-lines as before
- 12lb artillery is light artillery (not medium) and takes replacements from light artillery
- command cost is as mentioned above
- I believe that the starting date of the event allowing conscription (full draft) was also changed

If I understand correctly, the 1.14d (comprehensive patch) is not yet official, and it is a little different than the official path above also, though I do not know to what extent.

Will the legacy patch finally have Athena back at full strength? That's all I really care about. 1.14f Athena still seems off.

I currently have version 1.14c and QuickFix6 installed.

Will the install of the legacy patch with Quickfix 5 cause a problem ?

Thanks

As far as I understand - yes - big time!

The changes in Quickfix 5 have been rolled back, and are incompatible with later patches.

Someone with more knowledge can no doubt clarify.
