Blockading Richmond ?

Mon Sep 21, 2009 10:14 am

Hello,

I'm restarting a new game after 1 year off. I'm using the last patch.

I have a whole fleet in the james river and there is no blockade of Richmond. As far as I remember, this was working 1 year ago. Any hints ?

Hi!

You have to put the ships on the Richmond adjacent sea zone.
Blocking the Hampton road area as historically don't work (game engine limitation) even if that is the mouth of the James.
Cheers!

My fleet is in the 'james river' zone, which is adjacent to richmond and the unique adjacent zone as indicated in the richmond port tooltip.

Is it because my fleet is an ocean (blue water) fleet and cannot blockade a river zone ?

Oh Sorry, I though you may be blockading the mount of the James. :)
No, there is no problem with blue/brown ships. Any combat ship that can reach the zone should be OK.
Are you sure you have enough combat element (you need 8)??
What does the sea zone tooltip tells you regarding the blockade??
If the CSA has a fort adjacent to the sea region you will need another 4 combat elements.

Cheers!

It is possible that the icon is hidden under some troops (I have seen this several times). Look at the harbor just east of Petersburg (it shares the same river area as Richmond). If that area has a blockade icon, then Richmond is also blockaded.

Jim is right, although you should also be able to see that you have a blockade in effect by highlighting the water region in question. If you have a blockade it will say "you have enough elements to blockade this zone"; if not, it will say how many more you need.
