Either land units moving along the water via the riverine transport pool or actual naval units themselves moving along the water. Both have a chance of successfully bypassing shore defences.

If you find out the percentage, or any modifiers to it, please post as I'd be quite interested to find out! :coeurs:

No wonder everyone is only rarely seeing successful shore to ship bombardment results.... the efficiency odds are only 20% or 1 in 5 if I'm reading this correctly

There must be modifiers to it though? I know that having a fort in the region it will fire nearly every time there is movement along the waters bordering it.

My first test (v1.14) appears to confirm that forts will not now "default" bombard ships that pass by them now, and even worse, they have no Bombard button to press, at least not in the example I'm using. It appears this might be another unintentional side effect of the blasted default land bombardment rules.

Anyone else confirm this? (using v1.14c and any of the quickfixes)

It is my experience that level 1\2 forts do not have the bombard order (I don't think they ever did?) They will always attempt to bombard if they can.

Units sometimes succeed in by-passing the defences of level 1 forts, however, I find that level 2 forts will nearly alyways succeed in firing.

This is what I have seen also...

I'm I to be reading right that quickfix 4 did not addressed this problem, only changed the button configuration?
