PBEM Question

Fri Aug 07, 2009 11:14 pm

My brother and I decided to play a PBEM against each other, with me hosting. I sent him the trn file like normal. The problem is that when my bro put in his turns and saved the game, an ord file apparently wasn't created. The game said that the file was created, but the file wasn't listed when he tried to email me his turn back. Does anyone know what may cause this to happen, and what we can do to fix it?

We are playing the April 1861 scenario, v. 1.14.

When you make the save the game will briefly display the full path and file name across the upper part of the screen. Check it carefully and make sure it is showing the path to the folder you are looking for the file in.

The non-hosting player works a little different since the game uses whatever folder it finds the trn file in as the Save folder. Things that could trick it are more than one copy of the trn file in the Save folders.

If he's running Vista the files won't appear if you installed the game in the Program Files folder. Have your brother reinstall the game, deleting Program Files from the installation path.

Or before choicing the ACW folder. A button saying "Compatibility Files" should appear next to the "burn" option. Push that in and it will show your saved games. I know vista sucks for this.

Thanks for the help, everyone :coeurs: . My brother clicked compatability files and then he saw the file. Now I can get back to spilling Yankee blood :dada: ! Again, thanks for the help.
