Loyalty Checks

Thu Dec 28, 2006 12:23 am

Goodaye,

The manual states that...

"The best method is to capture strategic cities. This will impress your loyalists and demoralize the other side. A strategic town on capture will send ripple of loyalty checks across the map, toward the nearest regions but also toward all other strategic cities"

I understand the process of what causes the loyalty checks but I would like to know how it works. Eg. Is there a straight die roll for each region/strategic city that undergoes a check to see if it flips? If so what are the odds and is there anything that influences the die roll.

And finally if it does flip what does it flip to, eg 51%?

I've searched the forums and couldn't find an answer. Apologies if it's already there and I've missed it.

Cheers & Festive wishes,

Plugger

I guess you can find most information in the extended manual. Here is the link to get it:

If you do not find the required clarifications theret, we'll explain it here... :indien:

Goodaye,

Thanks for the reply. I've already downloaded and checked the extended manual. While very good and informative it didn't answer my questions which are..

1.When a region undergoes a loyalty check what is the die roll for it to be successful or otherwise?

2.Is it a straight die roll or are there factors that influence it?

3.If it's a successful loyalty flip to the other side, what level of loyalty does it flip to?

Cheers,

There is no 'flip' it will be just a few % points per turn. Loyalty changes very slowly.

Loyalty changes are mostly affected by:

1 - control of strategic towns in the same region (4-5%)
2 - control of other strategic towns (1-2%)
3 - Police value of units present in the region (the more the police, the higher the chance to get a favorable loyalty shift).

Goodaye,

OK, it appears I've been looking at this the wrong way. So if the opposition captured a strategic town in an adjacent region then that region would undergo a maximum shift of allegiance of 5%+2%=7%.

One further question. Are these shifts automatic and always for the same amounts?

There is exactly 5 modifiers, and they always impact the same amount:

If the region captured has a city:
+2% in the region
+1% in all neighboring regions

If the city is a strategic city:
+2% in the region (cumulative with first case)
+1% to all regions in the theater (New England or Deep South eg)
+2% to all strategic cities, on the whole map

(all cases can be cumulative)

Goodaye,

Ah huh! Exactly what I was looking for. Many thanks to Pocus and the others for answering my questions.

It's a great game and I'm looking forward to your next one.
