CD required to play?

Sun May 17, 2009 4:58 am

Hello,

I was thinking of buying this from amazon.com (cdv), and I was wondering if the cdv version requires the CD?

Hi Qwixt, and welcome to the forums :)

I'm not familiar with that version, but I do know that the version published by AGEOD (and sold through our webshop) does not require a CD.

You don't need the CD to play with the CDV Version.

Ciao Qwixt,
Welcome and no, you don't need the CD. You will need the box, however, because it has a code/key number on the inside of it that you enter for the first time to verify the CD. Once that is done, you won't need the CD in the drive.

I bought a download version, then started through the basics tutorial. Sensory overload at this point. I was following through the tutorial, got to the point where I had merge one corp into Sherman's corp, but couldn't find a tab for Sherman. So I decided to start it over tonight.

Howdy Qwixt,
I fully understand where you are coming from. I literally had to read the manual, then play the game, then re-read the manual, and then play, etc, etc. You are doing it the right way. Jump do the tutorials, and then just remember that the first 20 or so game starts and like war-gaming and training for you being Commander-in-Chief. It takes a while, but it's worth it.
The tab might not be there because they might have merged on their own. Sometimes that happens. Before you move anything, right-click the tab and that will lock it (to prevent accidental merging).

Ciao for now

That's the thing about AGEod games. Their extremely dense, which makes the initial learning curve tough to overcome. I hope that fact never (significantly) changes Phillip's approach to design, though. It worries me, because the vast majority of developers tend to "dumb down" their games after some success because they feel the need to design to the complaints. In the end though, the severe complexity is largely what makes these games so interesting. Where complexity really hurts is when the interface is cumbersome, which is something else that these games do well at.
