I had captured every objective city that I could have, and had almost all of the large cities in my hands. I had a major presence in every state of the south, except for Texas (I was hoping for the “Sam Houston” event, but it never happened). I had blue all over the map, and I couldn’t even find a southern army to attack (or chase, rather). I had General Lee hemmed up in a fort outside of Charleston and Bragg evaporated toward Tallahassee after I captured Milton, Florida with a force from Mobile. I had just captured a city in Western North Carolina and I was converging the AotP, the AoWV, AotJ and Army (I never named it), but Banks was in charge all there. I had suffered a little of over 48K casualties, with the South suffering over 170K with 59K more taken as prisoners. It was November 1864, and I had decided to take the winter to consolidate everything. Son of a gun, guess what happened?
I won. I can’t believe that the South just gave up the ghost! Lincoln won the election by a landslide and that brought the threshold down to 185 (I think). It had been 225, but the election brought it down and I had 203 at the time. (The poor South was only taking in 8 victory points on cities per turn.)
