Something that I noticed before the latest updates and I am still running into:

Some purchased units are not being built. I've checked this several times. In the savegame below the Ohio Brigade of 2 infantry/1 volunteer is not appearing. I thought at first that I was running out of money, then that it had to do with the fact that I was ordering the last of more than one type of brigade. But after making sure I had enough resources and trying different brigade types I still only get 21/22 ordered units. Also, this is not a matter of the unit not being listed in the "New Units" message. The units are not appearing at all.

New Event: "General Irvin McDowell is back in command". At first I thought he was back in command of the AOP, instead he was stationed in Washington, he also is serving under McCellan/AOP, so I have two McDowell's, v0.95.

I will fix that for the next version. For now, it shouldn't mess the game. Just put one of the McDowell twin in a remote place ;)

According to the wikipedia it is a Rodman

Black and white directly from the photograph

Adding some blue and burning tool with photoshop, better IMHO

Still have to resize it because the cannon is huge and in game is beyond the border of the unit

Uploaded a new version at the first page of this thread.

2 changes:

1) integrated Nickel's work for Columbiad and Rodman.

2) added some events for CSA human player invading Kentucky:
a) The sooner he will invade the bigger loss od support in Kentucky population he will get.
b) 10 events having different probabilities to fire will give or retranch VP for CSA side after he has invaded Kentucky. The negative ones may fire from April 61 to October 61, the positive will fire mostly only after July 61.

So why CSA should invade Kentucky? Abiove military reasons, I've given back to Kentucky its status of rather industrialized State in 1861. So onfederates could get some WSU so much needed....with a price... :neener:

building depots on a river as CSA

Wed Mar 25, 2009 3:20 pm

Hello,

As the CSA I am having difficulty building depots using river transports. I've tried building depots at Island 10 (most likely because it isn't a town or harbor?), Columbus and Paducah, but each time the "build depot" button is grayed out.

I've enough transports and loyalty, per the wiki:

"Building a depot

To build a depot, you must satisfy the following conditions:

* The region must contain either 2 undamaged supply wagon units or 2 undamaged transport ship units.
* You must have at least 50% control of the region where it's going to be built

Note that the 2 units are consumed when building the depot.
"

Is there something about those towns that prevent building a depot with river transports? I've captured Cairo, moved the guns, and want to blow the depot and withdraw to a more defensible position across the river, but need a nearby depot.

This is also a problem in my pbem game were I'm using version 1.13b with quick fix 5. Perhaps I should post this elsewhere?

I can post game files if necessary, but I'm assuming I'm overlooking something in the game design.

As far I remember i've changed nothing to rules governing depot building.

SVF has integrated the quickfix 5. If you're playing the normal version in PBEM you should post your question in the main forum. I'm just a unofficial modder in this thread ;) fixing bugs due to my work in my modded scenario. ;)

Very nice indeed
Forrest said something about killing a Yankee for each of his horses that they shot. In the last days of the war, Forrest had killed 30 of the enemy and had 30 horses shot from under him. In a brief but savage conflict, a Yankee soldier "saw glory for himself" with an opportunity to kill the famous Confederate General... Forrest killed the fellow. Making 31 Yankees personally killed, and 30 horses lost...

He remarked, "I ended the war a horse ahead."

Thanks PhilThib, Marecone and Clovis, you are very kind :)

The credit must go the photographer and to artist of Harper's Weekly respectively. I just add the colour, extract the part of interest with the lasso tool and reformat for the game. Example, this is the colored graphic from Harper's Weekly. By the way, just noticed that in theory this graphic could be used for the Union only, though the figure is small the uniform is not appropiate for the confederate army, is this a problem Clovis?

Why? The Union Army used columbiads, or did it not? At least the graphic is clear, or perhaps I am mistaken and they are confederate artillerist?

Yes but for easiness I would prefer to get only one picture for Union big guns. So as federals had the exclusive use of Rodman, I would reserve for CSA the Columbiad draw...

Searched for some info, a red cap was part of the artillerist uniform in the confederate army, removed the blue and added grey, but cannot make it ligther. Is it good enough?

Yes; with the scale reduction, the darker uniform will not shock the view.

What excellent work you do, Nikel! I don't use this word very often, but I'm going to, now: Impressive! :w00t:

I especially like the way that the figures provide a sense of scale, for the weapons. Well done!

There are still 2 McCellen's, and and 2 Steinwehr's also. I thought the Rodman's could not be moved out of the region, I oved one.

Great cannons Nikel, will the second one have the soldier included.
