Kudos to All

This is definitely the best Civil War game I've seen so far. I kind of stumbled on it by accident but rest assured I will be watching for your future endeavours.

Keep up the great work!

I'm actually looking up bell curve and I'm still not sure about it.
I like the fact that Pasternakski seems to have described it as having developed a "post-middle-age bulge." though.

You know the sad part....

I have been playing this game for 5 weeks (to the point that I wake up having had a dream of a GREAT new strategy that will make the SOUTH RISE AGIAN) and am now JUST getting all the mechanics down and feel comfortable with playing.

Yep, 5 weeks!!!

And this guy will, without a doubt look at it, play it for 10 minutes and understand the whole thing...

(sigh) I want a refund on the tuition I paid for my upper education!!!

You do get that wonderful feeling at some point where everything falls into place and the game becomes second nature. 5 weeks and you should just be hitting that sweet spot! The rest is easy (and fun). This is also the point at which you may think of playing PBEM although Pasternakski may not agree.

You just know in the winter of '62 that Athena is not building up an amphibious Corps around Baltimore including 6pdr guns to build a fort, supply units and cavalry to destroy your supply lines in the south. Against Athena you can plan with impunity - if you play a human they will always try and stay one step ahead of you. My PBEM opponent Grenna, if you are reading this it may be a feint :sourcil:

Cheers, Chris

Awesome Game

Sat Mar 22, 2008 12:10 am

I found the game last week and can't stop learning and playing. A superb product, my thanks to every one involved in bringing this game to life. I grew up playing Avalon Hill games and this style of computer game is exactly what I search for every time I browse at the store. I feel like I found a diamond in a sea of first person shooters.

Welcome to the forum. Glad to hear that you are enjoying the game.

If you have not done so already, I would suggest that you patch up to the latest patch (1.09) which contains all of the prior patches.

Aloha, Timothy, and welcome to the forums Image

I don't think I go too far in saying that what you feel is something most of us here agree wholeheartedly to. Happy to have you with us, and keep in mind that if there's anything you wonder about concerning the game, people hereabouts are more than happy to help you along :)

Great game ! I enjoyed playing with the Victory Games's Civil War boardgame and AACW is the worthy computer successor of it.

A big, big thank you to the devs for making this game. I've been wargaming going back to the old Avalon Hill days and have been waiting for someone to make this game the way it was made. Absolutley excellent!

And also, a big thanks to everyone in the community that have helped make the game even better through mods and AAR's. :dada:

Now, if I can just find the time to play that the game deserves.

I've been a Civil War buff for more than thirty years, and a gamer since Terrible Swift Sword, and I would like to congratulate you on creating the most addictive, entrancing, anxiety-producing gaming experience I've yet encountered. :coeurs: Yes, I'm a big Take Command fan as well, and I don't know how you did it, but you managed to make little 2D counters on a screen every bit as enthralling as TC2M's thousands of active sprites. More enthralling, in fact, to my strategy-minded mind. The implementation of the WEGO system is brilliant, transforming static your-turn, my-turn rigidity into true nail-biting anticipation. Kudos to all involved, and I anxiously await the next available update.

Count me as a new AGEOD fan. I'm very impressed with this game so far. It has a sort of "unity" that other games at this level do not have. I am also very impressed with the forum and with the evident enthusiasm of the designers for their products and their customers.
I look forward to other games using this system. As it is, I'd love to see the map style of Napoleon's Campaigns applied to ACW - perhaps in ACW2?

After over a year of owning this game I have finally started to make a real effort in learning the rules and playing it - and wow, it is better than I thought.
I have just been completely humiliated by the AI in August '62, having thought the game was won in late '61. As the Union I realise my mistake was to take far too much interest in Eastern glory, having defeated Beauregard's main force defending Alexandria, while ignoring the West (despite knowing my history!). I abandoned the game after the British invaded. TIme to read a few AARs and try again I think.

Well done on an excellent simulation.

I didn't actually have a chance to get all warm and fuzzy about this game. But I've owned it for about a year now and it is quite honestly one of those games that I juse haven't lost interest in. At all.

Typically I will roll through a game in a matter of weeks and never play it again. This game is truly extrodinary in design and presentation. It brings all the pieces of this period together in one grand product that continues to offer fun and enthralling gameplay time and time again.

I am grateful for those that set out to make this game and those that continue to perfect an already near perfect historical experience.

AACW is truly, THE BEST ACW strategic simulation I have ever played. On the table....OR on the video screen.

One Year later...and still goin' strong.

Thanks a ton to the entire AGEOD team!!

Many thanks to all of you at AEGOD for this great game from me as well. All I can say is that I wholeheartedly agree with the other praises here on AACW. I saw AACW for the very first time at Gamersgate and started some research about it on the WWW. Last week I downloaded the demo-version, today I sent my purchasing-order to Amazon. What can be more said ;) ?

Impressive job – again many thanks for this wonderful game!!!! :D

There is another game I'm very, very interested in ;) - I think WWI could be the next candidate. This one will be purchased via your site - I promise it :D

While the interface of WIA, civil war etc i find not good performance wise, this is practicly my only gripe (and truthfully on my laptop the performance issue is very very minor). My favorite is without doubt the ACW one, but WIA is also very very good in my opinion, no other game simulates the type of guerilla warfare that WIA does so well.

*Also id be very interested in WW1 but sadly the performance issues for the other AGEOD ones, is 1000% worse in it for me (checked the demo) :( Is strange these strategy games require such a good pc, i can run oblivion no prob, but a few pixels of kaisers and battleships and lags like buggery :D

I can only echo what has already been said.

To her instant regret, my wife bought me ACCW for Christmas. The company she bought it from shall remain nameless ( think river in Brazil ) as they managed to send the game out without a manual.

So its not just a big thanks to Ageod for developing such a complex and rewarding game...but to all those who have posted in the forums too. Especially those who have taken the time to post an AAR, or have created the Wiki and of course the forum moderators. I would n't be playing the game with out the time you have spent contributing to this site.

Just need to find the courage to play my first PBEM.

My wife is under orders to buy all future Ageod games from this site!

This game can kill marriage's...now there's a good tag-line! :mdr: Hell...use Dixicrat and Aphrodite as an example...probably the coolest couple I've ever seen. A woman that digs this stuff...is pretty awesome.

I think I remember letting a couple of ladies go by the wayside because of AACW :) .
