Creating divisions

With 35 of the regular slots on the Reinforcement tab, I can't very easily provide this type of choice because to do what I'm proposing requires the reuse of the slots used for the combined arms brigades to brigades that essentially have the regular "infantry" units only. To leave the combined arms units AND these newly defined units would exceed the max of 40 units capable of being used. Currently there are 19 of these "combined arms" units. I can't provide 19 more infantry units in the 5 slots remaining.

For Union 1861 choices are 75% combined arms brigades. From 1862, it's just the contrary. So I keep both historical flavour ( most brigades in 1861 were combining inf, cav or art) and possibility to overcome it.

I should mention that the Database files are never used in their .xls form, but instead are used in conjunction with a "compiler" type of in-house program named "CSVSplitter" to create the "output" files used in the various folders. "CSV" (Comma Separated Values) however is somewhat of a misnomer, since the separator character actually has to be set to a "semi-colon" when saving the various DB files in .csv format, prior to use with this CSVSplitter program. All of these "output" files are ".txt" in format and can be opened with Notepad. You can even edit these "output" files directly with Notepad, but the changes enacted would not be permanent (across patch versions) unless the associated DB source file is altered, since the DB file is used to create the "official" output files.

I figured as much when I saw the CSVsplitter exe file in the database folder. I didn't delve into it becasue I have no intention of learning how to mod the game -- I'll leave that to those who have a better mastery of the historical facts than I do. It's clear that you and Clovis, and so many others here on the forum are much more steeped in Civil War history than I am. I had a pretty good opinion of my mastery of the subject until I came here.
