Personaly, I think his fall from grace had more to do with his support of the Gallopali (spelling) fiasco. But history is funny like that. Politics is a perverse mistress to say the least.

One could say Churchill's greatest asset and his biggest flaw were both the same. His total confidence in his own judgement.

I believe he also said as a kind of 'praise' right after Jutland: "He was the only man that could lose the war in one afternoon"
