Thirty years war GMT

Mon Feb 02, 2009 3:13 am

Hum, I already know this subject has already been discussed (thirty years war I mean) and I have read through the forum it is not a priority and that ageod would probably lose money doing this, BUT (yeah there's always a but :wacko :) I own a fantastic board game from the company GMT (http://www.gmtgames.com) that is called Thirty years war (yeah I know at this point you all knew the name :innocent :) . I don't know if ageod has ever done this, I mean buying the rights of a boardgame from another company, but it would make a perfect game. It's in the same kind as ''Montjoie!'' meaning, based on cards, major events being played through cards (and some of them adding bonuses etc...) and the artworks for the counter and espacially the map are just some of the best I've ever seen. Anyway I'm probably going to be told that it's impossible but it's worth a least a try for any fan of boardgames. Been my favorite for years. Sorry if there is any mispellings or grammatical errors but english is not my mother language.

The era would make for an interesting computer game.

But the 30 years war by GMT was a terrible board game, full of flaws and poor gameplay.

If I was going to pick one of the GMT card driven games to do as a computer game it would probably be Wilderness War but then we've allready got Wars in America / Birth of America to cover this.

I also think the AI requirements to make any of the GMT CDGs work would be vastly more complex than that required by Montjoie which as a boardgame was more of a beer & pretzels / eurogame compared to the fully fledged wargame that the Thirty Years War and most of the other GMT games are - not that I wouldn't like to see it if someone did produce it.

FtG Will Be Like Clash of Monarchs - But Playable

Clash of Monarchs is a richly detailed board game by GMT, but it suffers from being overly complex. I think FtG will really deliver what Clash of Monarchs was meant to be.

I disagree the game was a great game. Many options and even with a few flaws the abstracions were reasonable.
