--- Ageod announces its second game ---

Thu Nov 02, 2006 3:19 pm

Dear players,
The AGEOD team (creators of Birth of America) is very pleased to announce its new product:
AGEOD’S AMERICAN CIVIL WAR – Our Hearts were touched with Fire
A historically accurate, realistic and fun turn-based grand operational strategy game of the American Civil War. Based on an expanded and improved version of the “Birth of America” game engine, the game enjoys a very intuitive interface and is easy to learn. Compared to its predecessor, it features many additions such as new economic and political features, player control of troop recruitment, full chain of command from armies to brigades and much much more!

Thanks for your attention,
The AGEod Team.

[LEFT]Wonderful news!

Not only will the BoA engine undoubtedly be great with an American Civil War game, but the addition of the political and economic features along with other new gameplay enhancements sounds fantastic.

Where can I place my order? :coeurs:

PS: That fort graphic looks really good. Likely prudent to siege that before assaulting.

Must have now, must have NOW!

ACW grand strategy games have always been hard to come by on this side of the pond, You're making an old veteran very happy with that one... :coeurs:

[nudge-nudge] Can't wait to hear more about those new economic and political features... [/nudge-nudge] :innocent: :siffle: :sourcil:

Loved the BOA military focus

Fri Nov 03, 2006 4:39 am

I loved the military strategy focus in BOA...and have usually found economic and political features a burden in strategy games...please maintain the great formula you've had with BOA...maybe option politics and economics?
Thanks for the excellent game in BOA...and I've been hoping you'd do the Civil War...I know it will be very successful!

Great choice.

Part of me would like to see this game and the Take Command series merged. I think BOA is the best strategic game around and TC is surely the best tactical game.

I'll still hope for an AGEOD Great Northern War, or maybe a mod in the future.

Great work guys.

Cheers,

Funny that, I had the same thought last week playing your redcoat mod.

I was begining to think it is almost impossible to gather a team which will create a good strategical engine AND a good tactical engine. CoG and FL tried but their tactical engine (and AI) somehow lack some edge.

On the other hand, an AACW or BoA campaign would last for ever with such a feature. I also appreciate to finish a campain in a week-end.

I think fighting the strategic battle would be optional, for those who wish to finish in a weekend.

Its something to think about. I reckon a really good modder could use a third program to connect the two games, if we have access to the unit strengths data for input into a battle in MMG. MMG is so wide open we can model just about any Civil war battle. Things will improve once we get more maps.

However, the guys at MMG are going to be taking a break, so we wont be seeing a new game soon, just more mods.

Cheers,

Absolutely brilliant. Civil War Generals 2 was probably the last good strategy-level Civil War game made. That was seven years ago. Given the excellence of BOA, your Civil War game will probably set the benchmark and make a lot of devoted AGEOD fans in the process.

Sounds like a winner. Based upon my impression of BOA, I can assure you I will purchasing the new game.

How large will the scope of the game be?

Specifically, will the game include the Trans-Mississippi theater?

I had a brief look at the modding file. I'm not sure it will offer the interconnection we need.

I was suggesting that instead of letting BOA handle the battle, that we transmit the battle data, unit info mostly, to the Rebels and Redcoats mod for TC2M and then fight out the battle there. The result of the tactical battle would then have to be used as output for the BOA results. (I don't know if we can get unit info at the end of a TC2M battle.)

Its not a huge problem, but not an easy one for a modder.
