1.04b Mouse response

Fri Nov 21, 2008 8:11 pm

Mouse response seems to be worse under 1.04b. Large erratic jumps and unresponsive for long periods of time (10 - 15 seconds) with no indication that AI is doing anything. Happens while AI is paused, according to the message on the screen anyway. I skipped 1.04a so this is comparing 1.04 with 1.04b. Actually the game as a whole seems more sluggish than 1.04 on my system.

CTDs seem better :) Only on Quit and I see that may disappear in 1.04c ;)

Played for over an hour straight this morning with no hangs or crashes. Up to Jan-Feb 1919 in the 1918 scenario.

Keep up the good work Calvinus

Large erratic jumps at scenario start are caused by the update of all soldiers uniforms...

Then they are caused by AI job, which is notified on map (black window) with a bit delay... I will improve this point, of course, but now I'm working on more urgent stuff.

I think the sluggishness from my previous post may have been from reloading the game right away after a CTD. Maybe some resources hadn't been freed up from previous run that crashed. I just played another turn after having logged off for awhile and it seemed to be 'normal slow' and not 'super sluggish' as my last run was ;) Didn't get the CTD on Quit this time either. That's a first for me ;)

Mouse response VERY slow during all of Campaign Game

Mon Nov 24, 2008 5:20 pm

I am playing the game with a brand-new computer with Quad-Core processor + 4GB of RAM and I still get a very slow / jerky mouse response during the entire game (which is otherwise working fine). The sluggish mouse response is constant, both when the AI is working (when the black box notices come up) and when there is no "AI working" notice.

However, when I play the game on even a much less capable computer and only play a small scenario, the mouse response is fine. Is it the big scenario / AI work that is slowing things down? Would it help to pause the AI whenever I am doing anything? Is the AI "running in the background" even when the black notice boxes are not up? Other than setting the security level to 2, is there any other way to fix this?

Thanks, and I appreciate all the great efforts that went into this game!

Pausing the AI while you make your moves helps quite a bit.
