Can't start the game :(

Tue Nov 11, 2008 12:42 pm

Well - actually I managed to start the game but:

a) It will run with sound disabled.
b) With sound enabled it will just show a blank screen.
c) Sometimes with sound enabled it will start, but the mouse cursor will freeze.
d) In about one try out of 10 or more it will run with sound and mouse working, but it will crash for about a 20 minutes of gaming.
e) Even with the sound disabled it works fine in tutorials, but when AI is enabled it is prone to crash. I have seen a situations when after stopping AI with a pause key it just froze up.

I tried even changing sound cards from on-board card to old and trusty SB Live 5.1 but nothing changes.

I tried reinstalling DivX codecs - the same problem.

Tried disabling the sound acceleration in windows - the same problem.

And by the way - another AGEOD games work well. FarCry 2 and Fallout 3 runs smooth with all the settings maxed out.

My guess is that there is something wrong with different resource initialisation. Seems to me that game tries to initialize different instances of DirectX processes which are conflicting.

I am running AMD64 X2 dual core 5200+ with 2Gig memory, Windows XP, Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTX.

Update:
Just found the notice that four players campaign against an AI is buggy at the moment.

Will try against a single AI later in the evening :)

By the way - I like the concept of the game - hope it will be playable as soon as possible ... Havn't seen the game for the First world war with a depth like this. Except for "Victoria" from Paradox may be, but this one have much more depth in military planning and less micromanagement in economics, industry and politics.
