We are still working on the problem. Although its frequency appears to have been reduced in the most recent patches, certain situations still produce excessively high casualties. The trick is to find repeatable situations, then isolate and identify the causative aspects. Only then will Pocus & co. know what exactly they have to fix.

Just my 2 cents worth here. I have always loved the Civil War Era. Mostly battles and campaign. I use to live in Savannah and Adamsville TN so I would alway go to Shiloh as many times as my legs would peddle my bike. Have owned many a game, both miniature and board. I even had a few Civil War games for the PC. The battleground series were my favorite but they only concentrated on one battle.

I have owned three games where it seems like the Play testers, The game creators, and the community as a whole truly have come together to work on being a great game. 1. OOTP, a Baseball game. 2. TEW, a Wrestling game. And 3. This one.

I only found out about this game recently. But I have enjoyed it immensely. All games have some flaw somewhere. But I think the creators and the rest of the team have done a bang up job at helping others with problems. Correcting problems in the system. Well you get my meaning so I wont waste anymore of anybody's time. Just wanted to throw my 2 cents out there.

I am sorry sir maybe you missunderstood me. I think this is a great game. I feel your self and the rest have done an excellant job with the patches and I hope you do continue your work. I had no other intentions other than say the staff here was excellent and I look forward to many more hours of enjoyment. I did not mean to offend, nor did I mean for a stopage of any patch that yourself or the rest of Ageod decided to put out.

Just a quick comment from me to further support the continued work on these games after release.

One of the most frustrating things I find in 'the games industry' is titles being released in a half finished manner that never get fixed properly - usually this is the more commercial titles (Total War etc) - and the excuses given that 'nothings ever perfect', deadlines and release dates etc.

Long may such companies as AGEOD (with their excellent support from the userbase) continue with their far superior customer service and support.

We are considering adding a web page on the site with quotes from players. So gents, who among you mind if we cite them on the web site? (your full name would not be given though, only the first letter of it)

The team is really grateful of enjoying such a nice community, so thank you all, on behalf of the studio.

.. and if you can speak of our games to friends and PBEM buddies, don't hesitate.

Oh yes please Gray  Its a terrific game. If only battle reports became more accurate (for me that means no more 'daft' casualty levels....and perhaps a more informative report on who was 'actually' involved in the battle) and were the naval aspect of the game properly implemented then I reckon this terrific game could become an awe inspiring one. Not asking for much am I ;) Oh and in a spare couple of minutes if the programmers/developers could just tweak the interface to make it a tad more user friendly.

Some of keen veteran players take a break from the game - I came back today just in time for the latest patch.
Illness in family meant an extended break from the game - not a drop off in interest.
This game will get played for a long time yet - it is the mass market games that suffer from big drop offs in player interest. I will not quote the games that my nephews bought recently but they have gone even unplayed at all!

I think this game has a lot of longevity to it. Kinda like Civilization or Hearts of Iron, I still bring those out and play them from time to time. Not because of all the great graphics, but because they are genuinly fun to play. The concept of AACW is great as well as its replayability.

Ah, I see someone found my handiwork useful! ;)
I did the first positive review of AACW at Gamespot because I felt it was getting a severe case of "short shrift" by the community. I am now glad I did and happy to see others have added their glowing recommendations of AACW.

Indeed, and this is appreciated because small companies like our rely much on word on mouth.

Hi all,

I bought AACW recently but haven't had time to get into it until just now. I've been lurking on the forum here to keep up to date for a couple of months... and now I'm a member. I think there is a good level of activity here. I'm pleased with the developments that the patches have made. I've been playing the CSA most of the time against the AI. Maybe I'm nearly ready for a PBEM soon.

thanks for listening

bye

You can change the name of a stack ingame?

How? :w00t:

Aye.

Ctrl - Alt + left click on the stack's tab.
That's new as of 1.11e (or maybe f... one of the beta patches).

It works in 1.11d too, as long as you don't want to rename a locked stack that is in a same area with an unlocked stack :)

EDIT: Now that I think of it, I have the Historical Accuracy MOD installed. Maybe the renaming is possible with that and not "vanilla" 1.11d?

I found out about it at Ebay when I was actually shopping for the one talonsoft game I did not have in my collection, Chickamauga. Did some follow up reading on AGEOD game and took the plunge and bought ACW - still dont have that Chickamauga game yet either.

The continual updates and support for ACW will mean that though a lot of us will take breaks from the game due to family/work committments etc we will keep coming back to game.

The interest in the Civil War if not the passion for it as a subject will keep I think bringing people back to game. In a way that other games have fallen by the wayside because they never got the updating and back up that ACW has had.
