An inquiry....if Washington dies...?

Question, if George Washington dies does another leader on the American side become promoted to that rank? Historically there were a few who craved that position though a couple in that group were not capable of filling the man's boots.

at the moment, the US player loses a big crunch of VPs if Washington dies...
As for the promotion of a would-be successor, it is not implemented...who should we choose for instance ?

Let's say that the absence of promotion would represent the competition between the "successors", thereby inhibiting command...

I would suggest Gates or Lee as a successor if Washington dies. Gates had alot of political capital after Saratoga; not warranted I must say. Lee was also repected because he had been a British officer at one time, though he was a very mediocre General at best. After those two duds, I would say Greene; an excellent General. Arnold would also be a possibility if he hasn't turned traitor yet.

I'm in an email game as the British at the moment and the death of Washington would thrill me to no end. It would be the final nail in the coffin for the Rebel cause.

Yes, Greene is the natural successor if the abilities would be the deciding matter.

Gates & Lee were seriously overrated, mostly by themselves. Luckily for the yanks they were exposed. If Arnold didn't fall victim of politics who knows what he would have eventually achived.

Funny detail: Col. John Glover and his Marbleheads have the power to resurrect from the grave! In one of my Brit campaigns I've killed the resilient bugger 2 times!

That's because this unit is both a regiment AND a leader.

So it can loose all soldiers and be only 'wounded' as a leader and then transported to an other city to heal.

In fact I don't see the point no to make an OOB with two units leader + regiment

This is made like that so Glover is always with his regiment, and not separated from him by the AI (or the player). A bit awkward true, but there is no easy solution on that for now.

Yes, strange ahistorical things sometimes happen with some of the leaders. Recently in the 1755 campaign, the AI had Pontiac leading French regulars in capturing Baltimore!! Of course Amherst's army threw them out as soon as they could get down there. Go figure...

Yes, I'm aware that Col. Glover is integrated into his Marblehead regiment but in one of my Brit campaigns he was KILLED twice in battles ie. there was a cross near his "unit tag" in the battle result screen and the marine companies were listed as destroyed. So the whole regiment should have been decimated.

But I was thinking that almost all of continental regular regiments can be reformed as reinforcements. So, the Marblehead marines are regulars and therefor they can get reformed too with their gallant & indestructable commander.

Anyone noticed this?
