Yes, I vaguely recall that, too, but that was a long while ago, and the feature certainly worked in 1.10d. I use it quite frequently.

Right now, in 1.11, it traces out the route and calculates the days, and all looks like the unit will make its round-trip raid/scout, but during the turn resolution, nothing happens.

Hello again, refering to my problem which got moved to this thread regarding the Kentucky event. The next turn the same stack after attacking Bowling Green moved on and took Lexington. The event then did occur where the CSA invades Kentucky and the Union gets the added loyalty bonus. Is this intentional? Does Bowling Green no longer start the event in question?

My apologies for that; it was in between a whole lot of the posts about in-game naming, and got caught in the turbulence of posts being moved. It is now back here where it belongs :)

Here's hoping this doesn't confuse the issue!!

I guess I'll have to confirm my own issue? :bonk:

I started over with a new game.

Early on, fleets that I issued round trip orders to [using the "Shift" key] did as told. However, once Stand Waite's Cherokees come in to play, I could not send them out on scouts using that method.

So, maybe this has to to with partisans/irregulars/Indians??????? I don't know. In my initial game with 1.11, the problem wasn't noticed until the Partisan Act event in 1862.

Something is amiss, though ...

Missing Music?

Sun Aug 31, 2008 7:24 pm

One other little thing I have noticed is that the Yankee Doodle fife ditty that used to play when one openedthe message that shows you what free militia and partisans/raiders you have received no longer plays.

Instead, the little snippet of music that plays when you open the message that shows you the troops you just called for as reinforcements plays there, too.

And, in fact, it doesn't always seem to want to play in the second instance!

It has always been like that, depending of the number of troops you receive, the music is different.

As for the 'can't do a patrol bug', please send me the save with the force failing to do that, I did a test and it worked, so we will save time with a prepared save. Directly to pmalacher@age-studio.com please. Thanks Rich!

If someone can verify, it seems like there are a lot more elite infantry floating around. Like regular infantry is upgrading on its own to elite. I don't know if I am imagining it though, because I am not clear on when or if it is supposed to happen anyway. I am assuming that the dark line on the left side of the infantry symbol means elite- as oppossed to line. If not just ignore what I said.

All in all, great patch. Now I am back to playing AACW with a vengeance. I will always buy Ageod products as long as you make them.

WARNING, you need to redownload the patch if you got it BEFORE READING THIS MESSAGE . The fix was not as complete as I thought... it worked most of the time but not 100% of it.

Save sending as we speak. I tried a land force and a river force. It's broke!!!

Regarding the music, it worked fine on this particular turn. I've been playing the game since April '07, and I can never remember a time when the Yankee Doodle tune did not play when opening the message that shows which free militia and partisans are received. That is, until this patch [1.11]. Are you sure about this?

Good news, though, I am finally seeing some Union AI action on the Mississippi River down around Vicksburg!!! THAT is great!

If I install the 1.11 patch, can I delete the 1.10 patch? Just takes up a ton of memory.

One more issue I have found with this patch ... after the first 4 or 6 large 7-element Virginia brigades appear in the reinforcement pool, it doesn't appear that any more are created ... Late '62 and ZERO.

I think I had best download 1.11a, uninstall and reinstall and see what happens. I think I'm going nuts, as no one else is mentioning this stuff!?!

A little bug that persists (not 1.11a specific, but still uncorrected) is the absence of the "clickable symbol" at the left of some units in the list that appears when we click on a "new units raised" message.

See for instance the attached pic - no box for Mahone's brigade

(1.11a clean install)

The only issues I have with any type of patches, ie Upgrades is that the upgrade is not supported from the version that was purchased from a distributor.

This was my second experience with electronic downloads and I felt like I got hung out to dry from the distributor of this game. This is not a slam against AGEod they do a bang up job and I appreciate it. Here is the rub, as a consumer you do price comparison for the same game. you find a price fluctuation of the game by 20.00 US. So as a consumer you go with a reputable company not the maker because of their price. Now you download that product and expect the same game that everyone else is speaking of. Well you do get the basic game albeit limited in upgradability because there was not a standard release to the distributors that has their own licenses scheme. That being said it would have been a help to me as a consumer that AGEOD had a distributor list of their software and listed their capabilities and what version they are selling and what can be expected on upgrading if you purchased from them.
Another answer to a sticky problem as this is price matching so the revenue that would have gone directly to a distrib would go directly to the developers. Granted they would take a few dollar loss by doing this but they would make it up by volumes in customer satisfaction.

I recently steered away from the Matrix side of the games because of the way they are starting to do some of their games and it reflects in their support system. I wish to my money on another company that I can believe in and trust. This has been shaken a bit by my recent purchase from a distrib. But I have faith that it will work itself out.

By the way My AGEOD AACW still does not work and had it a few days. I can look at the map and that is about it. I feel I have wasted money for a hood ornament for my desktop.

These issues are complex and we, are the developer of the game are not necessary aware of all the details, when a game is distributed. The game is being published in the USA by CDV, which had made contract with Trymedia for a digital download possibility. Then Trymedia protect the game with their own scheme, which prevent correct patching. As you can guess, we tiny developer in Europe, are not always up to date on all this stuff...

As for your specific case, I regret you get this problem, as in the end it is you who is penalized (and us, doing support and spending time whereas it should be Trymedia doing so). Send me a mail at pmalacher@age-studio.com with a copy of the electronic document you got when you bought the game, and you will get a serial key from us directly.

1.11a Assessment

Wed Sep 03, 2008 9:47 pm

Clean installation of 1.11a; no mods; playing a campaign rather quickly just to test:

First of all, it is great to see that wicked French intervention bug fixed so quickly. Secondly, the AI is on its way. Again, a siege of Vicksburg. Another at Mobile. This is wonderful. The AI still can't sustain itself for too long, but it's a big improvement. Once these maneuvers become a real threat, it will be a new game!

Bugs & stuff:

  1. Pocus has confirmed that the Patrol order is broken.
  2. Mounted partisans and light infantry do not appear on map when ordered up. Partisans do. This applies after the Partisan Act event takes place. They all show in the Reinforcement screen and allow you to purchase, but only the Partisans actually show up.
  3. 7-element VA brigades do not show in the reinforcement screen, except for the first 4-6. I am into 1863. No big brigades to quickly allow Heth, Pender, etc. to form divisions with.
  4. Some events [scripted brigade reinforcements] still show as that weird evt_nam thing in the message screen.
  5. And, the music, I still think, is slightly messed up when opening messages that inform you of reinforcements - free militia AND purchases.

One other thing -- When you click on a town, a message pops up under the weather section that says: "Military Activation" [though misspelled!!!!]. If you click a second time, it also says: "Construction Mode". Is this new? If so, what does it mean/do? I never recall seeing that before. If it is NOT new, I still would like to know its use. :bonk:
