Demo vs. Game

Is there any difference between the demo and the actual game, beside patch updates?

Well, as far as the gameplay goes, no...

But the demo only features one year of the 1775 campaign, whereas the full game has the full campaign (1775-1783) as well as a full French and Indian War campaign, and a myriad of smaller scenarios focused on a smaller aspect of the war that can take from 15 minutes to several hours. Well worth the purchase price

Agreed. I just made my purchase in the last week after going through the demo quite a few times. It's a fantastic game and well worth the 30 dollars.

Ok.

I read this from the homepage and was not sure...

"Last but not least, you can download a 180Mb demo of the game here. Beware that the demo holds only parts of the game and is not compatible with a full game."

This refers to an anti-hacking feature: No use for a hacker to try to unlock the demo to get the full game: Some part of the BoA code, not needed for the demo scenarii, have been deleted in the demo code. (am I clear enough??).

This means that you'll have to download the full game if you choose to buy it, no activation code in the demo.

the reference to a 180 Mb weight is obsolete now, it was the case in the 1.04 demo, but the 1.08 demo with the first year of the campaign has the weight of the full game, eg 280 mb, (minus some dozens of strategically removed lines of code ;) ).
