The Union needs some SS units

Sun May 06, 2007 11:01 pm

I'm wondering if the patches have changed the game routines for pacifying the southern sympathizers. No matter what I try, I can't seem to reduce the rebels sympathies along the raillines of completely occupied states. I can station a string of cavalry, milita and sharpshooter units along the line and still see >50% rebel sympathies. This is in addition to occupying every village in the state and instituting martial law (nor are there known enemy raiders in the state).

I've got a string of units guarding my whole rail line to the south because if I move them off of it they will soon revert to >50% rebel control.

I guess I don't understand how to do this, because last week I wasn't having nearly as much trouble gradually converting them to Union control.

I see your problem, but equating those who sought to end slavery with the Nazi Schutzstaffel is something you don't need to do.

Welcome to the dilemma of protecting your supply lines. Grant and Sherman had a tough time with it as well.

The primary point I'm trying to make here is that it seems much harder to improve the military control of rear regions than it did a week ago when I was playing this game. It is my opinion that something has changed since the original game was released, making the conversion process significantly harder to accomplish. I understand that I need to keep control of my supply lines just like the Union commanders had to do, but I'm using at least 25% of my entire army to do so right now--just for Maryland, Missouri and Kentucky, and the control is only good for as long as I continue to garrison each area that I want to control. It would be nice if I could fight a battle in each area to rapidly move that control to 100%, but my oponent isn't cooperating with that convenient tactic.

My map has more troops guarding the rails than there were citizens along the tracks during Lincoln's funeral train.

If things don't change, I'm going to have to find a better way to accomplish this task, (SNIP). Now, if the game would only let me do so.

Why do you have to be so insulting, not only to me personally but to those of my family heritage who fought - and died - bravely to bring an end to slavery as an accepted institution in America?

In addition, the Waffen SS were no laughing matter. Just ask those they wantonly slaughtered - like the "Union" soldiers at Malmedy, for example.

No need to mix up matters and subjects... the ACW is NOT WW2 :8o:

There is no change in the game that was implemented recently to slow down the police operations (unless a buggy conversion of the units DB :siffle: ). So either the normal process is a bit too slow and we have to check this, or the police value of units needs to be beefed up a bit...

We'll investigate the matter for next patch :indien:

While the protection of communication means is a strategy problem, I fail to see the link with WW2.
