Playing the new Mod

Sun Oct 21, 2007 6:14 am

And I am loving it. however, I forgot I was still playing 1.06 but it seems to be working just fine after several months except that a few Generals don't have photos. Is there an issue that may be going unnoticed by me right now? By far the best campaign I have had thus far and I love the changes that were made!

Now a question, P.G.T Beaugarde brought his full force of 49 against my force of 99 of Washington Fortifications. Just so happened on the same turn I was taking Patterson and friends down to take Manassas after taking Harpers Ferry. Anyway I ended up surrounding P.G.T and his whole crew and it seems he is unable to retreat and is now down to 28 after a couple of turns, I have captured over 9000 guns, over 5000 people and in one very bloody catastrophe he lost 13,000+ men to my 3000 since they are now opening up at a range of 0 while I am firing away until they get there I guess.

Is the reason he is staying and fighting to the last man because he has nowhere to run to now since there isn't an open terroritory for him to fall back to? Even if he tried running through my Divisions around him he wouldn't fair much better then he is in Washington. Just luck on my part to be making the move I did thus catching him between a rock and a hard place.

Is his entire army now destine for destruction only a few months in? I hope so ;-) Should give me some breathing room to eliminate a force that big right away.

Wow that's a lot of guns. I didn't know the Confederacy had so many.

lol, no kidding ;-)

I HAD THEM TO THE ROPES!!!! and what happens, oh everybody decides they don't want to be activated this turn.....Plus Patterson and friends sieging Manassas are exhausted from months of fighting.

It is only late August I believe, maybe just turned early Sept., but the CSA has already lost 19k soldiers almost all from P.G.T.'s surrounded forces that are slowly being wittled away.

Now when you are not active you can't attack can you? That sucks because I was about to unleash hell....next month I guess but it is coming darn it!

I imagine that he meant rifles ...

In my first campaign I also took out the CSA in pretty much two sieges ... at about the same time I surrounded Lee in Nashville and Beaugarde in Richmond and quite a few turns of starvation later I attacked and killed off just about the entire confederate army. It was kind of a let down that they would not attack before the situation became impossible for them ... the campaign consisted of some small battles ... some manuever ... two sieges ... the end.

Is it 'Full Metal Jacket' where the drill instructor has to teach the recruits the difference between their rifle and their gun?

lol, come on now. I posted that like 2 am I believe. At that point, and the number of hours I have played this game over the last week, I couldn't tell you the difference. I know my girlfriend is anxious to remind me though ;-)

With the new mod (my current game that this post is about) the CSA are basically wiped out in Nov. of 61. I destroyed their initial attack on Washington with Beaugard, Longstreet and some other general which I can't remember. Because of the maneuver I was making at the time I saw an oppertunity to cut them off and something like nearly 20-25k soldiers were lost by the CSA (this started on the CSA's first turn by the way and was over a few turns later with the largest portion of their army destroyed). They mustered together another decent size division and attacked the Division I had stationed in Harpers Ferry but I just happened to be sending a Corps up there on the same turn. Attacked them and forced them to flee into the mountains in the dead of winter after destroying 2/3rds of it.

Out west there have been handfuls of small skirmishes which I have gotten the better part of. Shipped an Army HQ out to St. Louis for Fremont, made Grant a Corp with a strength of 830 or so and he sent the entire CSA army running for the Gulf. Once winter is over I am pretty sure this one is over with. I haven't seen another decent size force, except in Norfolk but it isn't strong.
