losing corp status when a corp gets on a boat

When you put a corps on a boat why is the corps symbol lost. I made Butler a corp under little mac then put him on a boat and he lost his corp status when I disembarked on an expedition.

because otherwise this would allow exploits, like forming a corps under a good leader in Washington, then moving it to New Orleans while retaining the advantages.
