Creating Depots

I have a hard time creating Depots. I know about the MC % and that is not the problem.

I tell the unit to create a Depot and I get the message

Build a Depot using supply units in the process, require a total of 13
days.
Shortcut: shift-D

I don't see any resources being reduced after I issue the "Build Depot" command. Only about 1 in 10 times do I get a message in the next months log that a depot is being built. I don't know why the other 9 times the depot is not being created.

The only thing I can think of is "Buiding Depots" require a resource that is not available at the end of the turn because I used them all up buiding replacements.

What are the requirements to building a Depot?

Depots use actual on map supply units (supply wagons or trasport ships, both riverine or sea). They have to be on the region and on the selected stack when you hit the build depot button.
I think in won creating Depots consume two supply units.
These units will dissapear and will be added to the construcción pool so you can recruitment them again.

Depot cost [to build on map with units]:

MoneyCost = 10
WSUCost = 0
DayCost = 13
MiniCityLevel = 0
.....
EltSubType0 = $SupplyType
EltAmount0 = 0
EltSubType1 = $OnFieldConscript
EltAmount1 = 5


So, a Supply Type must be present, cost is 10 money, 5 Conscripts [needed at time the "engine" executes the command.]
...therefore if you deplete the resources, it won't be built
AFAIK, he Supply unit is not consumed....

Really?? Then this is completely different from all previous Ageod games! :bonk:
If building a depot is so cheap whats the point of using the construct depot RGD? It cost 300 money if I recall correctly... :blink:

Discussions under way to make RGD and Field build more or less equivalent.....

Indeed, i did a little testing and supply carts are not consumed when building depots on WON. Sorry for the wrong info above. I thought it worked as on all the previous games :bonk:

But on my testing i couldn't notice that the money and conscript cost were paid either. Nor in the turn you order the depot, nor in the next turn nor after two turns, when the depot is finally built i noticed any cost substratcted from my assets.
It seems like building a depot is completely free if you use a force with a supply wagon and the build depot button :blink: It only needs 13 days...

Can someone confirm if the cost is actually paid for?

This was a great answer to my question!

I started maybe 20 Grand Campain games and played 1 - 4 turns trying to figure out my army setup, how to use Regional Decision cards, how the interface works, how replacement works, how new troops works. This a very complex game. I was bulding check lists so I would not forget to do important things.

I created all my check lists and thought I new what to do. So I started the Grand Campain to play. I was looking at my logs to see what was happening, making sure I was buying all the replacements I could, playing diplomacy cards, building depots, which of course could not be built because I was using up all my resources buying replacements. I got to July and had Austria on the ropes but decided my setup and Regional Card use could have been done a lot better so I decided to start a new game. But I wanted to see how the Diplomacy for Peace worked. So I stopped building replacements, looking at logs, and just moving the army around besiging Austrian Citys and killing any Austrian Corp that showed up. All over a sudden, I was building depots everywhere.

Of course, the answer is I was out of money and/or conscripts.

Lessons learned. :)

I can confirm that if you spend all your money on replacments, depots never get built. That was the problem that caused me to start this thread.

I believe the reason you don't see it is because the engine does it during the turn, not when it was ordered. So unless you can track everything during the turn that generates or costs money, there is no way you can see it because part of the change of the money during the turn.
