Is there some way, besides clicking through your entire army, of seeing your generals, their rank, ratings and special abilities?

Not really that I have found. Best bet is F1 but this does not list their special talents.

Unfortunately not, there is a sort of OOB ledger in the F9 panel, right below the promotion icon, but it's unwieldy and just doesn't really work. If you go to the F1 page when hovering above a leader's stats for stacks with a leader it will show you all the leaders with him and their stats, but not the special abilities.

It's really quite unpractical, but c'est la vie...

It would be really nice to find those commanders that can lead foreign troops. This trait is really important for all those lovely artillery batterys that you capture during the game.
