help with recruiting and training

Wed Mar 04, 2015 4:31 pm

Hi,

Im playing the western campaign and im not sure how to get Halleck to train and McClernand to recruit. I've placed them in the right cities, but do I have to purchase the conscripts like any other unit? I dont see them in the list and they are not appearing anywhere else that I can see. I guess I need a step by step on how to do this

Thanks

Halleck should be in command of a stack with conscript or militia/volunteer elements. Two of these elements each turn will improve to their upgrade element.
The conscript/militia/volunteer elements of cavalry or infantry do have to be purchased or you could use elements like these that you start with. Conscripts have a "C" in their NATO icon and Militia an "M", while Volunteers have a "V". You may have to click on each brigade in the production menu that you can purchase to see which elements in that brigade are conscripts, as no pure conscript infantry elements can be produced.

McClernand should be inside a city of size 5+ and in command of his stack. The loyalty of the city may improve the number of extra recruits he provides.

Welcome and good luck!

I believe I read that that Halleck would also have to be stationary as well, though I have not verified this.

Put Halleck in charge of a stack. The stack needs some elements eligible to be upgraded, like volunteers or conscripts
Put McClernand in a big city. You won't see anything that says "McClernand did this!", but the conscripts per turn should increase

Donagel - I've heard that too. If I remember correctly, its a tooltip for the other kind of training, the experience kind.

I was confused by the training / recruiting thing, but thanks to help from the guys here I figured these pointers :

Training Officers are : McClellan, Halleck, Franz, Sigel.
They Will train TWO regiments of conscripts or militia into regulars.

Recruiter - Banks. McClernand and Burns ( I think) – Must be in a 5+ City. You need over 50% loyalty so better to use the larger cities with higher loyalty
Will produce an additional 5 conscript companies. As mentioned above you can't see this happening, not obviously , but the conscipts are shown in the region F8

Also - Training Masters (HQ) adds experience each turn. Conscripts need only 5 exp to get one exp star
