Attaching a Corps to an Army

Sat Sep 06, 2014 8:49 pm

Hello everyone -

First post...I bought CW2 when first released and played with it for a while, and then put it down to await the patches (I'm now playing 1.03 with the BRS DLC). I'm picking it back up now and working on getting a better handle on force organization. One question I do have is whether I have a choice of armies when using the create corps command for a leader. When I use this command, it only gives me one choice in the tooltip. Is there a way to cycle through armies in which to attach the corps to? Or is it strictly based on proximity? Or can only so many corps be attached to a specific army? I did not see anything in the manual about this but I may have missed it.

To the developers, kudos on the depth (and that's an understatement ;) ) of this game. I find myself spending "hours" plotting, etc. before I even hit the next turn button! Well done.

Thanks for entertaining the newbie question.

Cheers,
Otto

Hi Otto, welcome on the forum.

When choosing the create corps command, the game give you only the choice of the nearest army.

But, if there is two armies in range and you want to attach your corps the farther one, you can do the following :

- Disband the army you don't want to attache your corps to.
- Create the corps, the game should now propose you to attach it to the second army.
- Recreate the first army (so you won't have any penalty)

Yes, this is the only way and it works even if the army to which you want to attach the corps is not the closest; just as long as the corps commander is within the army's command radius.

There's one thing to add to Mickey's instructions, when you temporarily disband the other army, all the corps attached to it will cease to be corps and must be reattached to which ever army you want them attached to. Having your armies and corps organized on the map will help with this a lot, and if any of the other army's corps are not within that army's command radius you will not be able to reattach them and they will remain just stacks until you can put them within the command radius of an army an attach then again.
