Special Orders: Disband and Surrender

Wed Sep 25, 2013 4:57 pm

  • Disband: selected Stack will be disbanded at a cost in VP s.
  • Surrender: selected Stack will surrender.

When do, in what situations, these orders make sense?

I believe that the disband could be used in rare cases when you absolutely want some stuff not to be captured by the enemy. Let's take a stupid example: fort Monroe is attacked and will almost Certainly fall to the CSA...as their is a faire change that it's batteries and coastal guns get captured and re-used by my enemy, it is worth to disband them to avoid them being taken.

I am not certain, but in surrender you don't lose VPs but for sure what can be captured is captured...so no VP but help to the opponent in some cases...

My 2 cents, Pocus should confirm

Speaking about other AGEOD games, as i don't own CW2 still... I have used them sometimes. Mainly to deny the enemy the advantage of capturing guns or supply wagons.
For example a force besieged, with no supply and on the brink of surrender, can destroy/spike his guns and supply wagons so they are not captured by the enemy.
Or a force doing a raid can capture some unguarded enemy guns/wagons deep in enemy territory and thinking too much difficult to escape their pursuers with that burden, destroy the slow units before heading back home.

Never used with troops, as they cannot be captured.

Regards

EDIT: Philippe was faster! ;)

Surrender is a variant where you will lose less VP and NM, but you must be besieged for that.

As for doing a disband or surrender, why would you do that? It depends. To deny capture or to scrap units so they can be rebuilt elsewhere for example.
