Is there a way to change it I am older and need it a bit larger?

I believe 1920 X 1080 is the max (widescreen) should be in options under graphics off start up screen.

To make the text bigger, you need to make the resolution smaller (1920x1080 has the smallest text font for example). This has the side effect of cutting off some messages (they don't wrap, but disappear off the side of the screen).

Are you sure? A smaller fullscreen resolution should make all bigger the same way, so there should not be cutts off.
What is cutting the messages is making the Windows fonts DPI bigger (more than 100%, 96 dpi).

There is an option to alter the size of the ingame font. Most messages fit in for me on 1024x 768 after altering it.
