Is it possible to finish the game before reaching 1920? For example by "prestige victory"?
I found nothing in the manual about it, but somewhere here I read it is possible (?) ...

different countries have different rules. If you are GB, France, USA, Russia (& I think Germany) you need 4 times the prestige of the state in second place
Italy, Austria, Japan, ottomans need double (as they start weaker).
Its probably easiest with GB as you start with a huge lead and are the clear #1, but I think even then is a real challenge to manage
