Replacement bug

Sat Dec 01, 2012 10:02 am

I'm currently playing the Marius vs Sulla scenario, with historical attrition option. According to the manual, my units should get replacements only if static for the whole turn and in a depot area.

I've run a couple of test turns and noticed that my armies always get replacements, no matter what.
For example, I moved Sulla's army, with a couple of crippled legions, from athens to thebes in assault mode. At the end of the turn, all my legions were back to full strength.

Am I missing something? This looks like a serious bug, as armies keep regaining their force even when on the run after heavy defeats, becoming de facto undestructable until replacement pool goes to zero.

Please, if you suspect a bug, please report it with the necessary files, as specified here:

In this case, specially a saved game.

Thanks

Hi there, I have done a few tests and to me it looks as if there is a problem... I played the Spartacus scenario to get into few early fight and defeats. I had a battle after which I moved to Capua which has no depot... I had no elements that had been wiped out but I few had been damaged, but after they had been stationary for a turn at Capua the elements had been repaired, I double checked my game option to make sure that I had started which the hardened attrition option set correctly, I have attached screens....

First the hardened attrition option, force location and elements damaged...

Then I moved to Capua which has no depot and the damaged elements have been repaired...

Also I have attached the save game.... you may have to go back a turn or two to see the process...

This is WAD.
Playing with hardened attrition on, if your units are in full supply then their elements can recover hits anywhere.
If you need to replace a whole element then this will only happen on a depot.

Ok, but I think the hits recovering ratio is too high......the net result is that my legions are practically always at full strength.
any way to adjust it changing the game files ?

Changing the variable rulRecoverHit from 2 to 1 implements a more realistic behaviour: units recover losses only when staying for the full turn in an area containing a depot.
The hits are always recovered from "stragglers/wounded" and the replacement pool is not going down, but it's better than nothing...
