Question about a flag mod that may not exist

Sat Jan 14, 2012 5:22 pm

After I installed the latest version of the patch I started worrying about flags. The little flags that appear under the pictures of the generals (I think they're called bullets and they're PNG files) look fine for the Confederates but badly smudged for the Union. The problem is that the white stripes in the Union flag are blurred into something that looks a bit like a murky shade of pink.

Now I may be thinking of BOA (not even WIA), but wasn't there once a mod, perhaps by Pocus himself, that improved the appearence of the 'bullet' files? My recollection is that it was buried away in a thread about something else, and we're probably talking about five years ago.

Improving those 'bullet' files would be kind of tricky and would require a very light touch, perhaps a mask over the darker pixels and a perhaps uneven lightening of the ones that should be white.

The U.S. flag is always surprisingly difficult to work with in just about any game that I've encountered. If it isn't the number of stripes or the position of the stripes, it's the number, shape, and position of the stars in the blue field. It makes one really appreciate Sedgwick's US flag mod.

I made a small mod with a couple alternatives to the default flag "bullets" (one with sharper bullets, one with square battle flags instead of bullets) - unfortunately, I lost a lot of stuff recently, but they'd be very easy to recreate.
