Mandatory Attacks

Wed May 26, 2010 10:25 am

Hi,

Playing as the Entente in 2 player campaign game. French chose Plan XVII and Russians chose plan Rasputin. In August 1914 several French and Russian armise had red flags indicating mandatory attacks however on inspection of the stacks it displayed the message 'a manadtory attack is to be scheduled' and I couldn't get them to attack. Eventually moved to September 1914 and the red flags have all disappeared.....was the mandatory attacks cancelled ?

Thanks.

Hello,

mandatory attack requires you order a movement against an enemy area or an enemy stack. So, drag and drop all HQs/Detachments marked by the red flag to an enemy area. When you have planned the mandatory attacks for all concerned stacks, you can proceed.

Also, some plans require you perform a mandatory attack towards a particular area. The tooltip says what area, of course.

Yes, that was my understanding however it would not let me move the stacks towards the enemy and then let me advance the turn without fulfilling the mandatory attacks. There is something occuring in my games that is not right but not sure what it is yet.

I suppose you could click the "Next turn" button only when all mandatory attacks were planned, right?

What happened then? Have your attacking stacks been attacked by the enemy before doing the mandatory attack? If so, it's normal, AI prevented your mandatory attacks...

The AI did attack one of the French armies that had a mandatory attack......could that have then cancelled all the mandatory attacks for the French on the west front ?

I don't think so. Also, it never happened and it was never reported in the past. It looks very strange indeed!

Which game mode? WEGO? Turn-based? Army-by-army?

I am thinking it may be something I'm doing.......I have been using ctrl-alt-del to interupt the game to jump to the desktop.....I'll start a new game and not do that to see if I see any strange behaviour.

I played without exiting the game and no strange behaviour......there are a couple of things I'm still not sure about with regards to the August 1914 turn but will have to read some more of the manual, thanks.
