Dreaming of BoA

Tue Apr 14, 2009 11:31 am

When you start dreaming of a game you are probably just a little too excited or worried about what's happening there, aren't you? :D

In my present BoA2 FIW game I am terribly short of leaders. Tons of regiments and nobody to command them. Now last night I actually dreamt that I received a large influx of new commanders in that game, like 20 or so ... I distinctly recall how happy that made me, and how I instantly starting assigning them to units. Now the funny thing is that four of them came explicitly designated as "airborne" commanders. I recall my wondering in my dream about the use they could positively have in 1756, but then decided that they were probably for a later stage of the conflict. :D

Wondering if anybody else's games ever make it into their dreams? :innocent:

No :siffle:

And I positively know that it wouldn't happen if one played significant amounts of "Wolfenstein 3D" on one's iPhone for a period of time either... :siffle:

I think I had a Civ III dream once. Long time ago but it certainly burnt itself into my retinas. If I shut my eyes I could see the blue river patterns the following day.

A decade ago when we used to play Age of Empires (the original one set in the stone age) on the LAN, a friend of mine started having nightmares of Egyptians priests ... suddenly appearing in the shaded area, singing "hoyoyo" or something to that effect, and converting all own units. :D

Oh boy, I remember that sound well! Wow - that was a decade ago.
I remember fighting off two internet opponents for a couple of hours before finally succumbing. Having to go to the toilet was a real problem!

Cheers, Chris

Actually I believe it's a little over a decade. Might have been 1997 or so.

That's the beauty about playing locally in a LAN. You can agree on breaks. Everybody needs them.

You can also send someone's spouse for beer. :D

I routinely dreamed of Stars! or Dominions PBEM games when I indulged myself into playing it like crazy. Only PBEM mind you. Optimizing, calculating strategies really eat on my neurons :)

No dreaming, but definitely day-dreaming. I imagined the hell of an eight-day assault against rebel entrenchments that caused nearly 35,000 casualties in AACW. That is a 20% casualty rate among the corps committed. This was a final battle against the ANV at Norfolk, Virginia in the Fall of 1865. I imagined Pascheandale with muskets.

I also imagined plenty of strategy... how I would do it over again after playing a full GC for the first time (against an AI...).

Held, please don't make me feel any worse about this rapid aging process. I'm now trying to convince myself that the same sound must have been used in a later game.

I had a similar dream about leaders in AACW. When I was just learning the game,I struggled a bit with command ratings and forming divisions and corps. After a long gaming session, that night I remember having a dream where all the command rules just fell into place. It was like a light bulb,I went to bed confused and woke up understanding the game!
I guess I play to much, because I often have a game related dreams. Usually they are about whatever game I am currently playing. I have even solved strategy choices in my sleep.
Then again, I might be dreaming that I am writing this post. It depends on what kind of drugs you take!
