Forts: bug or clarification

Sun Jan 11, 2009 4:41 am

Not sure if this is a bug or just needs clearing up. Playing F&I war scenario, Braddock's army attempted to build a fort (icon was enabled) but the following turn there was no fort and the supply wagon was gone.

My opponent wonders if it might be because the artillery unit was not a full unit (missing elements). If that is the case then the icon should not be available imo. The only other explanation I can think of is if the supply wagon was eliminated from harsh weather, but I feel this is unlikely as it contained the 4 full elements.

Wondering if this is a bug or if I am missing something.

Hi ironwarrior,

we would need the savegame to check what's going on.

Cheers

You brought Braddock out to Fort Cumberland? Brave man!!! I keep Braddock back in Maryland where he can't hurt me too bad and send Washy out with the regulars.... holding my breath till they get Braddock the heck out of the New World!

Norbert,

I'm not the host, but I can ask my opponent to send them if need be. It is reproducable, simply:

1. start "A Few Acres of Snow" scenario
2. move Braddock's force from Alexandria to Culpeper and click end turn
3. click on "build fort" icon, click end turn
4. cry over losing a wagon with no fort. :D

Siekster,

Heh yeah it's a relief when he gets recalled to England. I find my opponent has become more aggressive early on and sending Braddock to threaten Fort Duquesne takes some pressure off. I darn near caught him off guard this last time and was almost able to assault but that dispersed move making his troops lose cohesion gave him opportunity to get back in time. :)

I confirm this in two ways:

1) You are allowed to select 'build fort' using a 2 element artillery and 4 element supply. Supply is consumed, guns remain & no fort.
2) You are to select 'build fort' using a 'depleted' 4 element artillery and 4 element supply. Same result.

definitely a bug. Thank you.

Now, we must invoke the Squirrel: "Hocus Pocus, we got nuts" :D

Hi!

Please don't tell Pocus, he will be mad at me that I bilked him of the bug hunting fun he loves so much. I took a look into the issue and found the problem.

Under certain circumstances it can happen that you are able to push the Build-Fort-button whilst you should not be allowed to do so. This has also the side effect of the consumed supply wagons.

Fixed now, thanks much for the report. :)

Cheers

So, Hocus Pocus has a side effect? It invokes "BugsAllFearIt PrimaSpirit" spell too?

Thanks! I won't tell
