The manual states:
"The replacement rate per turn, as a percentage of a unit’s full complement, is:
Base land unit recovery rate: 5%
Irregular: 10%
Depot: 20%
City: 10%
Fort: 10%
Indian village: 5%
Note: Union troops divide this rate by two, as field replacements were not a common practice for them.
Naval unit: 5%/port level "
This seems to be supported by what is quoted on the WIKI.
I am unsure (although I assume I know the answer - but I'll ask anyway)
1) whether this means that the single best rate quoted above applies to any given unit, or:
2) whether the rates are cumulative, i.e. a land unit (irregular) within a level 2 city with a depot will get a rate of 5+10+20+10=45%.
and:
3) do the units need to be inside the structure, i.e. city, deport or fort to receive the higher rate.
I assume 1) = Yes, 2) = No and 3) = Yes ?
The basis for my question comes from the initial forces given to the Union, 'At start and auto re-inforcement". Most importnantly, the Army of the Northeast, seems to me, takes a long time to achieve full strength (usually not until after the CSA make their first assaults). I was wondering if I was doing anything wrong, or whether this is by design, i.e. historically the Union were not ready?
I have also being looking to see how soon after game start the Union could build a depot in Alexandria (or even Washington). I note that Baltimore has a Depot, however the Army of the Northeast is locked for 3 turns after it arrives so could not make use of this facility until too late.
What do other peeple do to ensure the Army of the Northeast is fully prepared asap?
