New Patch Failing to Work

I have done multiple fresh installs of the game and new patch and have the same result every time. When I click from desktop it starts to load then a gray box appears saying AGE on top and OK in the middle. When I hit OK or Exit the loading process stops.

The issue is not the game, but something is not compatible with this patch. I have never had an issue before with any patch. Also, I have done multiple fresh installs. If I do not install the patch, I found the game works fine.

There is only so many times you can wipe your computer clean and of the game and patch only to attempt to reload with failure. Any ideas what the issue might be?

Which kind of Windows you got Windows Vista? Windows XP?

Maybe you are able to post your directx file so someone can take a look?

I have Vista...I just find it strange that this is happening now, I have never had an issue previously.

if you can tell me how to access it, I will post... the only thing that comes up is that damn box that says AGE....OK when I attempt to load. Also, the green bar is about 25% loaded. I wonder if it has to do with the Cd version I purchased.

Anyone else having problems with new patch?

I give up... I have tried both Vista and Windows with fresh installs from both copies on my pc and laptop and the same thing happens. A gray box appears with the words AGE in the corner and an OK or Exit option. No other patches, no other issues. Nothing wrong until I tried this latest patch release. I even reloaded the patch twice to no avail.

Any Ideas? Well, off to play World in Conflict.

Sorry, I`m not an offical of ageod. I can`t help you with this logfile..also is it now in Europe late evening so the guys here don`t work anymore, when Pocus one of the mans from AGEOD comes online tomorrow he will take care of your problem...and I`m sure he will do.

Direct X File:

there is my problem..english is not my native language..i try:

"press start" then you got an field where you can entry you entry on your own..there you need to write in "Dxdiag"..and then you have window where you can press "save informations"..so we can see maybe there is a hardware problem...more I can`t do.

Sorry for your problems. As Dudosh is saying, it's late evening here in Europe, so there are few people around to look into this. My recommendation is to send a mail to support@ageod.com with all the information you have and refer to this thread in your mail. If possible, could you provide a screenshot of what you're seeing? That will make it easier to see what you are talking about :)

To get the DxDiag file:
  • Click on the Windows Start button, then on Run.
  • Then type 'DxDiag'.
  • Once you are in the utility, run all the tests,
  • Then choose to save the results into a file (on your desktop for example).
  • This is the file we need.

the problem lies certainly with vista, the patch for whatever not being properly installed in the right folder. i suggest you to enter manually the path to the AACW folder during the patch folder.

Well, we are getting closer, it let me run Version 12 under admin. I have no idea what is going on. I have done everything with Vista except drop kick it. Funny, I installed Panzer General II a few days ago and it ran like they just produced it last week.

I think my system loves patch 12. It ran every other patch with no problem doing a total and fresh install each time.

Yes, but I have to run both copies through system admin on my pc and laptop or I get the gray box of death. So something is still funny, but using admin privilage it runs fine.

As for the default install path, it is not inputed by us but by the installer InoSetup. We will have to check their doc on how to change that. The problem is that all PC have a c:\program files folder, so that's why I think this is the default proposal. What can be the directory proposed in the case we manage to change that? A potentially invalid file path like D:\Games??

I use c:\AGEOD :D

Matrix often uses c:\Matrix Games

A user savvy enough to HAVE a D:\ can change to that themselves....
Anyone without a C: is too much of an exception for us to worry about.... :blink:

Every thing else goes as far away from windows as I can get it. :D

I've installed on the "OS" drive since DOS, Win 3.x, Win 95, Win 98, NT, XP and now Vista. Never had an issue..... :blink:

Same as you 5_Star. And I curse apps which are installing user data and savedgames in c:\Documents and Settings by the way. I really hate that, because my C: partitition can be the subject of a backup at anytime from me (previously with Norton Ghost, now with Acronis True Image)
