how exactly does "march to the guns" work?

i had two corps in ajoining regions. corp 1 was in a defensive stance. the region corp 1 was in also contained an enemy army.

i wanted corp 2 to attack the enemy stack so i ordered it to do so. does corp 1 have to be in an offensive stance to march to the guns? and if i do select an offensive stance for it does that mean it will lose its entrechments?

how would i get them both to attack at the same time? i was thinkin of putin corp 1 in an offensive posture but i (a) dont want it to attack the enemy on its own and (b) dont want to lose the entrenchment.

sorry for the complicated question but i couldnt find a better way of wording it

Maximum Base CPs 16

If Not Corps / Army -> Half your base -> so maximum 8

If Army HQ has STRAT > 2 -> +1 CP/ surplus point to all corps maximum (Not sure if minimum STRAT must be 2 or 3) Lee should give +4 CPs to every corps...

Some good leader Skills adds extra CPs +1/2

Finally, support units add +1/+2 to the stack

A corps commander can not be a divisional / brigade commander, if you report one.. its a minor bug...

Remember there is a maximum quantity of corps per Army HQ, again. depending on STRAT

You can put as many units/divs in one stack as you want. As you go over the CP limit, there are diminishing returns. There is a 5% penalty to movement rate and combat efficiency for each of the first 7 CP over the limit. This is somewhat reflected in the overall combat strength of the stack. Any units added after that just get the same 35% penalty. In PBEM, a stack like that would be considered a prime target.

More information here. These rules are the same for AACW as for NCP.

Actually it can happen a 1-star division commander is promoted by event, and he becomes the most senior leader in the corps, he will assume control of the corps. I had this happen with G. Thomas.
