I'm playing with english version and I'm PBEMing with a player playing the spanish one.
Strangely the names of his stacks appears in spanish in my game (when I'm close enough to see them).

Apart from that glitch, it seems different language versions are pretty compatible

Alas, if you play against a Russian player, you won't see in Cyrillic the names of his generals, this would have been so cool, just trying to identify who he is using!

OK That's the mecanism in play here .
I'm hosting the game and generating the files .trn but I suppose that my fellow spanish player doesn'nt read the messages in the message log in english but in spanish.
Understanding that the name of the stacks are computer generated and not typed by the user you could think of similar mecanism for stack names vehiculating only 'tags' in the files and the tags are traduced from a multi-lingual list using the language of the version in play.
Anyhow, I see it as a glitch in the localization mecanism although I agree with you it's a very minor glitch. I was just trying to be helpful.
