Leader activation changing

The following just happened to me in a Polish campaign of NCP. When I had resolved the previous turn, given my orders, and saved, Lefebvre (besieging Danzig) was activated, i.e. he could adopt an offensive stance. When I opened the game again to resolve the next turn, Lefebvre was suddenly inactive and reverted to defensive stance. This happened *during* the turn, to be sure, between resolution phases. How can this be? Thanks for any explanation.

Maybe it shouldn't be. But it just happened to me again, with two leaders, to boot. When I opened the turn the first time, two corps commanders were active who had gone inactive when I opened it again.

Only how to prove this? When you open the saved file again, you no longer see they were active the first time ...
