Militia question...

Mon Dec 17, 2007 10:43 pm

I ve found in my replacement pools lots of militia repls, without buying any... I Can not use up them properly...

All Militia is bought with 7 gold / 7 conscripts... 9/14 Off/Deff
Size 700 men

aproximately 1 year later maximum ---> all militia bought turns "free" to a line infantry 12 gold/ 10 conscripts / 1-2 War supplies --- 11/20 Off / Deff
Size 1000 men

1.- Is the extra 300 mens received "free"Once turns into line inf?
2.- These men costs line inf "replacements"? (or militia repls...?)
3.- In case they costs repls... Cost of these 300 men is 50%, according to the replacement rules?
4.- The War supply needed to form the regular battalions is "free" if you go the militia way?

Which nation are you playing? Both sides will receive regularly militia, either volunteers that can later be upgraded automatically or state militia which are raised by local governors and stay idle or locked for most of the war, till attacked

I played with CSA... And bought all militias I can, in order to avoid spending War supplies..

By mid 1862 I can nearly buy all militias again, as they turned into regulars... the same in the end of 1862.

Very few militias disbanded, so I can create a "big army" by end 1862.

Well, it works as designed... may be you are lucky not to lose so many of these units to combat... we'll see if we need to cap the global manpower of the nation...

Ok...

It seems to me that investing in militias (CSA) allows more troops to be deployed quickly...., with the "volunteers & mobilizations" and with the powerful generals CSA has in 1862 these mass troops can stop USA enough, and wait until they train.

Once lee can be given an army --- mid62, and Jackson a corps attached to him seems easy for CSA create a 3000 power corps with some elite troops.... in the manassas area for example.... add 2 -3 "cheap" militia corps (with some sharpshooters and militiamen leaders in the flanks perhaps 1200 power...

Also... seems to me somewhat disgusting redeploying "CORPS" from the potomac to the "Texas" front... easily uopgrading the total command power in the far west- mississipi... Not sure if redeploying is too powerful, once a few 2 star generals are ready for this task
