Issues from my current pbm game

Fri Nov 16, 2007 6:34 am

I am playing as the usa in a pbm game. A couple of issues I would appreciate comments on please. using 1.07f latest.

It is winter 1862/1863. The mississippi river is currently frozen from columbus to port hudson - I from the uk so I do not know if this can really happen in real life - seems unlikely to me especially as far south as port hudson. my union river fleet is currently stuck frozen in at vicksburg.

Trying to capture Richmond I hold fredericksburg and Petersburg as well as the non city regions to the w,sw,nw of richmond but there is a very large csa army in richmond under Lee which is proving impossible to beat. I have cut all the rail links into richmond and am blockading the port but so far (after several months of fighting) the csa seems to have plenty of supplies and ammo for an army of 6 divisions or more. Can one city ie richmond generate on its own enough supplies and ammo to support such a large army ? If so this seems very unrealistic. If supplies are getting into the city how is the question with no rail and no port. Supply movement is a bit of a mystery to me to be honest.

Thanks for the reply.

Any thoughts on starving this large army out of richmond ? How much general supply can one city produce each turn ?

Thanks :)

The really big charm of it is that it will only become better and better as more content gets added (hopefully by more and more contributors) :)

Wiki is really great :coeurs: . Did read it today and really enjoyed. Althought I started as beta and worked on this game from it's start I still found few things in your wiki that I didn't know.
Excellent work :coeurs:
Forrest said something about killing a Yankee for each of his horses that they shot. In the last days of the war, Forrest had killed 30 of the enemy and had 30 horses shot from under him. In a brief but savage conflict, a Yankee soldier "saw glory for himself" with an opportunity to kill the famous Confederate General... Forrest killed the fellow. Making 31 Yankees personally killed, and 30 horses lost...

He remarked, "I ended the war a horse ahead."
