This is from my other post but does being surrounded prevent a retreat? How about if you go through friendly territory and there the slit is 98% to 2% (to the other guy) and attack a force. Does that territory, even though no units are stationed there, prevent you from retreating back through it?
Also, does having ships in a river prevent the other side from crossing in that area?
The reason I am asking is that P.G.T. Beaugarde has what seems to be a path of retreat via my territory back down towards the Richmond area. I have a territory that is under my control with only a lowly militia guarding it but he just won't turn and try to go back through it and a territory across a river has nobody in it but there is a fleet stationed in the river.
His force strength started at 49 and is down to 21 and he is losing thousands of men each and every turn. I explained how I ended up cutting him off in the other thread. I since had to move a division to take care of another issue leaving only a militia unit manning an area. On this turn though I have 4 units attacking moving in on me in that area apparently to break a line of retreat for P.G.T.
I am just trying to figure out why he keeps throwing himself into a force of 99 while he is now less than half his original strength.
