Using V1.04 data files with 1.03e???

Thu Jan 28, 2016 9:43 pm

New player here, and I recently ran into the Immortal Garrison bug, and saw a few suggestions to use 1.03e as the only current way to get around this.

So I uninstalled 1.04; installed 1.03 from scratch and 1.03e from the Africa DLC and have been file comparing the data in 1.04 vs 1.03, and find a ton of stuff that should work with 1.03. Has anyone attempted this? Some of its graphics, some scripts, and fixed events, etc. In theory it should help 1.03e.

Any thoughts?

Kind regards.

Loki:

I have the beta patch, but the Immortal Garrison is a game breaker. Some have suggested reverting back to 1.03x to solve the issue. What I'm proposing is merging the new data with an exec that doesn't have such an egregious bug... its really fundamental and base line to actually be able to capture a city. To not be able to do such a thing just renders the entire exercise moot.

The reason I ask if anyone has attempted this, is because I've seen changes in data formats and structures, which potentially could cause issues to arise. Now, if those reversions of data formats is just a question of correcting errors- that's one thing. If however the exec has been redone in how it reads those structures, then that's an entirely different issues.

I'm using a File Compare utility, and these changes (corrections?) are very apparent.

Now I have no problem going through file by file, and moving the files over, then adding any new fixes posted on the forums and going from there. I was just curious to see if anyone had tried this- if not, not a problem, I'm not afraid to venture into the dark alone- if it works then its to the benefit of all. If it doesn't work, so be it.

Thanks for responding.

Cheers.

Hi

point is the bug was squashed in that patch .. which is why I suggest just using it. There are lots of good things in the .exe (like AI colonial play) that are too good to miss, its not just about the events etc

Loki:

I have that patch you listed; and that is the one that I was using when I started getting the Immortal Garrison bug. So it does not appear that that particular has been "squashed".

Try installing it while turning off your antivirus or putting it into a silent mode.
I know some can be rather zealous in their duty.
Try loading back a few turns,or to before entering the area in question. Go through the motions to invoke the auto garrieon with the patch installed and post the results.
Hopefully that helps.
