Filter View for Naval Theaters

Tue Dec 11, 2012 2:42 pm

When you press a certain filter button, you can see the various theaters of war. In these theaters the most senior 3-star General is the Commander-in-Chief. Given that there are naval theaters as well (set in the Areas file) the same applies to 3-star Admirals who can be CiC. However, understanding the limits of the various SEA theaters of war is more difficult cause the filter does not apply over the sea.

A future patch could add color-coding (it should be simple) to light up in different color the various sea theaters as well. It may help for better allocation of 3-star Admirals across the various seas. Crossing fingers for it to be in v1.03d... :D

For v1.03e now... if there is a simple color-coding solution for the sea, that is...

Maybe, but there are many issues that have a greater impact on play. Naval campaigns tend to have concentration for battle.

It is normal, but on the other hand, when concentrated you risk more a major disaster. If thinned out you can send them to scout around... being in thin lines they have a greater probability of hiding from the enemy. ;)

I know this is not related but I do need to know . . .

One of the building structures is Shipbuilding and the icon looks like the one near Kensai's name. What are the consequences of building such a structure and why is it so expensive?

The consequences are "positive". :w00t:

Remember the era we play the game, it's the Victorian era! In the early 21st century nations measure their prestige in how many supercomputers they own in the top 500 list. Fifty years ago, in the heart of the Cold War, it mattered how many nuclear bombs you had. Before that, late 19th early 20th century, our game's era, the shipbuilding capabilities of a nation gave it huge prestige and national pride. And so it is abstracted in our game...

Building Shipyard facilities in your nation will not speed up the construction of ships (this is set by the level of the port or naval base), but it will provide with considerable Prestige and Supplies (and even Manufactured Goods) per turn. If you aspire for the final prize (victory by Prestige) you should definitely have some.

Can this structure give shipbuilding capabilities to a smaller minor nation that does not normally have that capability?

Try better to expand your harbor or naval station.
