Ships in Martime Trade Boxes taking random damage

Wed Dec 19, 2012 1:45 pm

Every ship in every one of my trade boxes is randomly taking damage. I'm not at war, I'm not blockaded. I'm not sure why this is happening. On the same turn, its seems like every one of my Siege artillery took half damage, anywhere on the map.

Make sure you have enough:

  • replacement chits (F3) from the respective family
  • enough state funds, manufactured goods, officers, conscripts

each turn that ends. If not, random damage may occur. I have to say though, people have been complaining about random damage in their coastal artillery in our MP game too. I am not sure at the moment if there is a problem at code/logic level introduced in one of the latest patches.

Have seen taking damage to coast artillery from severe weather but buying and stocking the appropriate replacement chits made the problem go away.

I have tons of replacement chits. In fact, I bought a ton on the proceeding turn this happening. In fact, I maxed out my chits. The bigger problem is that ships don't seem to repair in MTBs. So I have to take them out of the zone to repair back to a harbor, just to have it happen again in a few turns.

That wouldn't explay why all my siege artillery took damage in the same turn, they were spread out across 6 different armies, and those were the only units in those armies that took damage.

Then there is something wrong with your installation as this shouldn't happen normally. In the MTBs the only ships that repair automatically are the trade ships (not even the transport ships which can forward supplies, but not repair or trade). Siege artillery should not take hits either unless you are out of supplies somehow or your costs to maintain your army exceed each turn the money, manufactured goods, etc needed.

If historical attrition is on, some of it may be explained, but not always and all of it.

Ok, figured it out. I didn't see the note that said upkeep missing. I didn't realized I could spend down below upkeep, because I am getting more resources per turn then I need in upkeep.

But the game seems to go...next turn->subtract upkeep->add new resources. So each turn it looked like I had enough, but I actually was negative for part of turn processing. This is not very clear.
