Strategic Rating of subordinate commanders

Thu Dec 23, 2010 6:02 pm

Do they matter?

If I have a choice of two division commanders, one is a 3/3/3 and the other is a 2/4/4, is there any disadvantage of using that 2/4/4 as a commander, assuming that at all times that division will be part of a corps?

Meaning, do division commanders, who are part of a corps, use their strat rating at all or does everything go off of the corps commander rating?

IIRC, the strategic rating doesn't matter. The offensive/defensive stats make more of a difference for a division commander within a corps. Now, if you pull the division out of the corps, or the corps commander gets killed...

Well, let's say that's a different matter.

I can't think of a single thing that strat rating does for a div commander as long as he's part of a corps.

It's been a while since I've played however.

Activaton roll remains the same, AFAIK. You will observe Div commanders who are active or inactive within the Corps.

But this will have no impact on the corps behavior, it's only if the division is pulled out of the corps.

I'm pretty certain I read that somewhere on the forums here, in one of the more indebt analysis of the game system. But I don't recall where exactly...

True - just stating something. Pulling them out can be useful, BTW; I do it to start an attack, take a town, etc. Then the other units join in.
