How is WW1 in its current state?

Wed May 05, 2010 6:41 am

We are all waiting for the Gold version, but how is the game in its current state? Is it enjoyable and relatively bugless?

I'm thinking of daring and buying it, but I am still hesitant. What's your verdict?

The game is quite stable now (and will be patched to gold level - code & AI only, no new feature - end of May).

Although it's not in our interest, I would say better you wait 10 days and get the Gold version.

Welcome, Drakken ;)

Yes, since release is soonish, I would recommend to wait for the gold version. There are just too many improvements in it to ignore.

But... If you've bought the original version, you'll just have to patch it, no?
Don't tell me I just bought this game two weeks ago and don't even open it while I'll have to re-buy it in a week... -_-

About your question, Drakken, I'll say that it's relatively bugless, but there are problems inherent to the game itself (like, for example, a strange diplomatic system which is way too unpredictable in my opinion).

As Phil said, there will be a regular patch for the pre-gold version which will have code and AI fixes.

So you can have that for free, or you could buy Gold for a discount with the map and interface updates.

Regarding diplomacy, there has been some pretty good updates for that as well in terms of AI actions but otherwise it is a quite complex system with a lot of dice roll modifiers so sometimes what seems strange may not be that strange at all ;)
